SOFTBALL & BASEBALL

It’s been a busy summer for two of our senior students.

Ngaru Reedy and Duncan McGarry have been successful in achieving major Softball and Baseball goals this season. Ngaru and Duncan play in competing teams in both codes, Ngaru for Central Mako and Duncan for Pirates and PK, but were selected to play in the same team at the Mid Summer Blast baseball tournament in January.

Players came from all over the country to compete. Ngaru and Duncan were drafted to play for the Kings and took out the tournment in an edge of the seat final coming away as the Championship winners.

From that win both have been selected to play for the Pac-Men 16U – Babe Ruth World Series, in Branson, Missouri, United States of America, August 2024. That is right, an actual international, baseball World Series. An absolutely huge accomplishment!

If that was not enough, Duncan was also selected to play for Wellington at the U17 Softball Nationals, while Ngaru played for Otago. Both boys were also selected to play for Wellington in a three game series against Auckland.

There are so many more wins that both boys could add to their lists of success this season but we are now focussed on Pac-Men 16U – Babe Ruth World Series August 2024. The boys are not funded to get there but we are determined to support them. If you are keen to throw your support behind these two Tawa College boys who are dedicated and committed sportsmen, then please let us know.
